ELSE Canada | British Columbia

The BC Chapter of ELSE was launched at the end of 2014. Currently the Board is established in Vancouver and Victoria, and is focusing on developing connections and partnerships with those working in the solar energy industry in BC to develop its membership base, and launch ELSE events. The BC Chapter is working on launching the Solar Ambassadors Program at the University of Victoria for the 2015-2016 school year. The Chapter is also in the early stages of developing BC Projects.

BC Climate Action Plan:
This summer the Government of BC asked citizens of BC to provide input and help shape the future of BC’s Climate Action Plans. ELSE believes the development of a robust and versatile local solar energy industry is a central component of any future low carbon economy in BC. As a result, the BC Chapter provided their comments and feedback to the Government of BC on their Climate Leadership Plans with a specific focus on the benefits that solar energy can bring to BC. The BC Chapter will continue to engage with the Government of BC as their Climate Leadership Plans advance and ask you to join their collective voices in calling on the Government to consider options to promote the adoption of solar energy technologies and business in BC.

ELSE British Columbia Board of Directors

Cory Brigham, ELSE British Columbia, Chair

Inside Sales Representative, Carmanah Technologies Corp.

Cory’s interest in solar energy spiked in 2012 while researching growth stocks and investment opportunities followed by extensive analysis of the nascent solar market in BC. During the final year of his Bachelor of Commerce degree, Cory completed a co-op work term at Carmanah Technologies, a leader in solar LED lighting products, and developed a business plan for a residential solar company. Now employed at Carmanah full-time, Cory specializes in solar powered airfield lighting, focused on airport infrastructure development and deploying solar lighting units at airports worldwide. Carmanah Technologies is a publicly traded company that manufactures solar LED lights and solar power systems that are industry proven to perform reliably in the world’s harshest environments. As Chair of the BC chapter, Cory is focused on working with the ELSE BC team to spread awareness of solar energy as a viable option within the province.

Colby Richardson, Board Coordinator

Enterprise Development Representative, Hootsuite Media Inc.

PA chance encounter with National Communications Chair Ryan Manchee led Colby to join ELSE BC’s provincial chapter as board coordinator. Working in social media and technology, he felt too many degrees of separation from renewable energy and the socioeconomic issues of climate change, areas of great interest and concern for him. ELSE provided an informative outlet and opportunity to join BC’s grassroots provincial division. As Board Coordinator, he manages the chapter’s agenda and serves as a liaison between the different chairs.

Jordan Scott, Events Chair

Account Executive, Purolator Logistics

Jordan’s growing passion for solar energy motivated him to join the BC Chapter of ELSE in November of 2015. He is currently the Events Chair for the province to help elevate the ELSE brand and awareness throughout BC and to promote resources for other solar enthusiasts. By day, Jordan is an Account Executive for Purolator Logistics responsible for selling their courier and freight services to B2B customers across BC. Jordan has over 10 years of successful sales experience backed up by his BBA in marketing and his MBA in management. By night, Jordan runs the Whisky Wisemen Society, a not-for-profit he co-founded in 2013, which raises funds for local charities through social philanthropy.
